I am really excited to help showcase other peoples worlds that fit into the hub I am creating! Throwback World Hub is all about that nostalgic feeling that we all find comfort in! Whether it be the obvious, movies and games… but there are also categories that I believe could make for amazing worlds, like fashion, music, places and toys. I can totally see Throwback World Hub being a starting place to go to with friends and choose a genre to explore.
I hope that Horizon Worlds eventually comes up with a way to “Bring You Back To Previous World” because the interaction as it stands right now is not user friendly, intuitive or seamless.
Say you’re with a few people in Throwback world hub and you all decide to visit a door. Once you teleport to that new door, there is no easy way to get back. You have to go into your menu, and find Throwback World Hub that way. Hopefully “Back To Starting Point” or “Back to Throwback World Hub” is a feature the HW teams are working on! <3
Below are a few categories that each decade will have! If you have a world that you would like featured, or a category suggestion please leave a comment below! You can also message me on my page at https://facebook.com/anonymomVR
Movies
This is going to be the largest category by far, there are so many great films with specific scenes that would make amazing worlds.
(I’ve started my master list of movies that I think could make an amazing scene/world to explore… see below)
Music Inspired
Worlds created based on a song, for instance, Black Hole Sun.. by Soundgarden would be a pretty awesome world!
Festivals could live in this category as well!
Fashion
Fashions can be taken from a movie (Clueless), and explored on a runway, or just maybe worlds that explore what was popular during that time… for example, rave culture: jnco jeans, tube tops, raver stars… basically the delia’s catalog.
Toys & Things
I cannot stop thinking about the amazing possibilities of this category! Like for real, I’ve already seen some amazing cartoon inspired worlds. How amazing would it be to have a Lisa Frank World! Cabbage Patch Kids, Carebears, Rainbow Brite, My little Ponies, Wuzzles, Light Brites the list goes on!
Nostalgic Scenes
This could be the arcade, like meta has already explored with creating Questys. I could totally imagine there being doors to your childhood room, like at the end of Ready Player One. Skatings Rinks, Malls, Movie Theatre Game rooms
I have on my list, to create my grandmother’s beauty salon which I basically grew up in. Eilene’s was on the corner of 25th and Detroit in Cleveland Ohio and had the best 70’s decor!
Games
Obviously this category isn’t about copying a game, it’s about showing your love for it. It’s above having something that you can virtually jump into. I remember playing Lemmings on my dads PC when I was little… It would be amazing to see those little guys in Horizon Worlds! I think one of the first games I ever played was QBert on the Atari… that would be amazing to see as well!
